The Culinaria foundation is a pretty popular foundation hear in San Antonio. They have multiple events through the year from 5/10Ks, Restaurant Weeks, and the big event of the year- the Culinaria Festival.

The Festival lasts almost a whole week, with a kickoff event on Thursday night at the La Cantera Resort pool. The events last for the next three days and are full of food, wine, beer, and booze.

I wasn’t able to attend the kick-off event this past year- but I did attend the Texas Grand Tasting in the La Cantera Ball Room, the Texas Taco Showdown, and the Burgers, BBQ, & Beer events.

The Grand Tasting, an indoor event occurs on Friday night and features food, wine, and liquor brands that are slightly more upscale. With steaks, ribs, pork chops, charcuterie, a wide variety of wines, and more.

The Texas Taco Showdown was a huge hit for Culinaria, an outdoor event, there were plenty of seats available on the long tables inside of the tents and an extensive selection of tacos to choose from. Some restaurants even featured a full-blown taco platter that guests could indulge in.

The last day was the original headling event for Culinaria- the Burgers, BBQ, and Beer festival. This event allowed guests to select their top burgers or BBQ, with a winner announced at the end of the day. This event, which takes place in the same area as the Taco Showdown, can get pretty heated- both with the flavor that is presented and the actual texas sun. Be sure to drink plenty of water during both the BBQ fest and the Taco showdown, it’s easy to get dehydrated with the amount of booze that is present.
