Tales of the Cocktail 2019 concluded a little over a month ago, and in the time since it’s conlusion I’ve been able to reflect on this year’s Tales experience. In a week that is packed full of tasting rooms, educational seminars, and booze-filled parties, it’s easy to get lost in the hustle and bustle of the week. This years’ excursion to Tales of the Cocktail was certainly a memorable one. It was my second year in attendance and for those that saw my recap from Tales 2018 and thought “Wow- there are a lot of events!” You will find that this year had even more events, parties & seminars than the year prior. One such event was the D’Usse Re-Mixer event, which blended libations with music and helped those a part of the class find the parallels of both crafts.
This past year I had the honor of attending Tales of the Cocktail in New Orleans, Louisiana. Tales is an annual event that celebrates the history and development of cocktails, the cocktail culture, bartenders, and the bars that they work at. The Culinaria foundation is a pretty popular foundation hear in San Antonio. They have multiple events through the year from 5/10Ks, Restaurant Weeks, and the big event of the year- the Culinaria Festival. The Festival lasts almost a whole week, with a kickoff event on Thursday night at the La Cantera Resort pool. The events last for the next three days and are full of food, wine, beer, and booze.
