Hanzo Happy Hour: A Late Night Dream

Hanzo Happy Hour: A Late Night Dream

If you didn’t have a reason before to visit Hanzo, the newly opened Alamo Heights bar, now you do. The latest bar concept from Steve Mahoney, is now hosting two happy hours. While out side of happy hour you can order both classic and creatively named craft cocktails that will start at about $9 and steadily go up in price (one is over $20!), the happy hour menu offers a more affordable price on beer, wine, cocktails, and last but not least, sake.

The menu includes three cocktails priced at $7, and while it isn’t the cheapest happy hour out there, it does offer a nice break from the high prices associated with the Heights. The drinks included are a spicy pineapple daiquiri, a refreshing Yuzu Mule and a boozy Asian Old Fashioned. In addition to these cocktails, they have select wine for $5.50, Sake Bombs and house shots for $4 and a dollar off all Japanese beers. It’s the perfect place for a group of friends to come and drink, a place where nearly everyone could find a discount for something they like on the menu.

The only downside is that the bar doesn’t have any food specials. Though they do have a reverse happy hour and a late night menu, which features a staff favorite the Seafood Okonomoyaki. At $12 it is priced a little higher than other items, but it’s a delicious combination between sweet and savory and is big enough to split between two people.

Hanzo is a great spot for groups of people where you order your own drinks and split a dish, going alone though can set you back at least $20. There are cheaper happy hours out there, but Hanzo gets an honorable mention for being a craft cocktail bar inside the loop that offers a late night happy hour.

The happy hour runs Monday through Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. and late night Sunday through Thursday 11 p.m. to 2 a.m.

7701 Broadway, Suite 124, (210) 826-1488.
